This piece is part of a limited series of eight original oil paintings, each measuring 8x8 inches on a sturdy cradled wood panel. The series celebrates mountain landscapes, painted with rich layers of oil for depth, texture, and timeless color.
While I usually work on a large scale and spend weeks carefully building each painting, these 8x8 panels are a very different kind of practice for me. They are like a morning meditation, quick and intuitive studies where I let go of pressure and simply play. I use a mix of brushwork and oil paint sketching sticks, which have a softness similar to pastels. The result is loose, gestural, and richly textured pieces that capture energy and movement in a more spontaneous way.
Unlike acrylic or water-based paints, which dry quickly through evaporation, oil paint cures slowly through oxidation. This process allows for more luminous color blending and subtle transitions, but it also means drying takes longer. Pease allow 7–10 days for your painting to fully cure before shipping. Some pieces may ship sooner depending on their stage in the drying process.
Each painting is signed on the back and left unwired for a clean, versatile display. You can hang the panel directly on a nail using the wood cradle, or choose to frame it. For a professional finish, I recommend Ampersand brand wood floater frames, which pair beautifully with these panels.
This mountain series is the first of many weekly themed drops. Upcoming collections will explore rivers, trees, the American Southwest, botanicals, abstracts, and more.
Shipping: Shipping is only offered in the U.S. via FedEx Home Delivery (1-5 days). Paintings are wrapped in acid-free archival tissue paper. Shipping is free and local delivery is optional— please email kathrynhackneyart@gmail.com to arrange local delivery to the following Washington counties: King, Snohomish, Skagit, and Whatcom.
The original artwork is intended for personal display purposes only and should not be reproduced, resold, or used for any commercial purposes without obtaining proper authorization.
